Supermom News: Back from a hiatus (+Sale)

The blog has been quiet, and the newsletter lists have too. My dear grandmother died in early July, and there was a lot of resulting grief, travel, and weariness that went along with it. I was very close to my grandmother and she has been a major part of my family and our entire extended family. A huge loss for all of us, though of course we are so glad for her pain and health problems to be gone.

I know that a lot of people do not have the option to take time to rest and recover when life gets to be tough. Thankfully, I do, and I did. I took two weeks "off" from all non-essential business, and did not allow myself to scurry around making lists of business or homeschooling plans and to-do lists. It is easy for my brain to get overloaded with many thoughts, plans, concerns, and ideas, and I knew what I needed was as much rest and focus on my home and family as possible.

I enjoy the simplicity of folding laundry, gathering veggies from the garden, and being the lifeguard by the pool while the children played. I took naps whenever I felt like it. (lucky for me my children are old enough to play with their Legos and allow their mom to snooze) I cried when I felt sad, and the kids did too. I set the table with my grandmother's tablecloths and dishes and thought of her, even though it meant that I burst into tears no less than four times during the course of preparing the meal.

Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. We did some painting in our living room and kitchen area, which I am very excited about. Today we need to put it all back together (pictures on the walls, furniture arranged, cleaning the areas that were revealed by pulling things out from their usual locations). And after that I've got to start getting my brain in gear for the upcoming school year plans, and continuing on with business plans and needs. I have so many ideas that I would like to share with you all, but so little time to make them available. Little by little I'll be doing my best to bring them to you as it seems the time is right.

If you're in need of anything at the store, please click through here to get a 10% discount on your order. You deserve it if you read through this whole post. ;) Coupon expires Sunday, August 9, 2009.

Supermom News: Sale, and Going Out of Town

Hello friends!

This weekend I have had time to add two excellent new products to the store.  Baby Bottom Mist is the perfect solution for sore bottoms, and the new Gentle Exfoliant is a wonderful way to rejuvenate your face and treat yourself with love at the same time.  :)

Here are the direct links to the products for those of you that have emails that are not easily clickable:
http://supermomshealthandwellness.com/catalog.php?item=99&ret=index.php
http://supermomshealthandwellness.com/catalog.php?item=98&ret=index.php

I have added many new recipes and posts to the blog recently.  You can check it out here:
http://supermomshealthandwellness.blogspot.com/

I have had a very busy past couple months, and one of the major issues going on was the decline of my dear grandmother's health.  Sadly, she has passed on now, and I am preparing to go out of town for her funeral.   All orders placed from July 10-16 will be processed July 17 and 18. I thank you for your support and patience during this time.

Til next time,
Erica

Supermom News: Earth Day Specials

Today is a gorgeous day here in central Kentucky.  Just the right temperature, and plenty of balmy breeze!  I took my children to our local Earth Day Festival and we picked up tomato, cucumber, cauliflower, eggplant, broccoli, pepper, lettuce, and basil plants for our garden.  I was so thrilled to find organic heirloom plants, which means that we'll be able to save the seeds and have a ready-made gardening collection for next year, plus plenty to share with others.  :)

A few weeks ago I shared on the blog about planting potatoes above ground, and yesterday we finally saw little tater plants popping up above the straw!  It was so exciting for us.  :)  We're easily impressed, perhaps.  (here's the link to the original blog post:
http://supermomshealthandwellness.blogspot.com/2009/03/planting-taters.html )

I've got some great sale items going on right now:

My Supermom's No-Lice Hair and Body spray is at an all-time low for a limited time. If you've got kids or work with them, you will want to check this out.

Also on sale right now:
Super Dad Vcaps and Super Kids liquid multi vitamins!

I know that a lot of you have been waiting for our popular stevia items to get back in stock.  A new order is on the way, so you can start placing your orders for those now.  I'll be shipping as soon as the items arrive.

Recently on the blog I shared a yummy and healthy treat that I made in a pinch.  Check it out here:

I hope that spring is treating you as nicely as it's treating me!  :)

Baby Boutique News: Safe and Healthy Sunscreen!

Commonly available sun screen products are some of the most dangerous products in the market. Typically they are full of chemicals that are known carcinogens, parabens, and petroleum products. Ironically, the products specifically for babies and children are usually the worst!
I am so pleased to now be able to offer this excellent sun care product that is safe and effective for the whole family.

A water-free nourishing balm with natural minerals that help reflect damaging ultraviolet radiation. Microfine zinc oxide offers protection from harmful rays while organic olive oil keeps the skin supple. Potent antioxidants including natural vitamin E, beta carotene and polygonum extract, protect the skin from premature aging and prevent damage caused by the elements.

The Reflect Outdoor Balm is actually tested to 29.5 SPF.

"Due to regulations in Australia for SPF ratings, ONE Group (makers of Miessence products) would have to have this product manufactured in a licensed SPF facility (instead of their own manufacturing plant) to claim an SPF higher than 15. ONE Group submitted it for third party testing which gave it a rating of SPF level 29.5"

So, the product has an SPF of 29.5, it has been tested to this level but it's not labeled or advertised that way. ONE Group did not want to let go of manufacturing control, risking exposure of possible synthetic ingredient contamination by having this product manufactured by a licensed SPF facility that uses synthetic chemicals.

The Baby Boutique is now offering an excellent selection of vitamins for the whole family (including prenatals!), organic skin and body care, and many more items for healthy living.  Check it out here.

Supemom News: Sale, New Interview, and More!

Hi everybody!

Lots of good things to talk about this week:

ON SALE this week:  EVERYTHING!  Take 10% off whatever you need from now through Sunday, March 29!  Click here to automatically get your discount. There probably won't be another sale until mid-April, so stock up now.

Blog I've been doing much better at keeping up on the Supermom's Health and Wellness Blog.  I regularly post recipes, testimonials from class members and customers, and have recently been sharing about my new efforts to stop eating sugar...again!  Check it out here.

Podcast:  After enjoying the first few conference calls I had with you all, I decided to develop a regular Supermom Talk Radio podcast about healthy living!  This Thursday I'll be interviewing my real-life friend Beth Dotson Brown about her battle against breast cancer (she won!) and the holistic methods she used to beat it, and that she continues to use to stay cancer-free.  There will be some nice bonus resources that go along with this that I think you will enjoy.  You can join the call by phone or online on Thursday, March 26, 7:30pm.  Click here.

Homeschool Moms:  I know I have a lot of homeschooling moms here, so wanted to mention to you my Supermom's Homeschool Blog and homeschool podcast!  There is also a *wonderful* Easter resource available this week that I want to let you know about. Read here for more on that. You will love it!

Did you purchase the big ebook deal last week?  I had been so excited to tell you all about that deal because of the wonderful resources for baking bread, gardening, and  healthy living.  Unfortunately, they made some changes in the collection they were offering, and the Bread By Hand ebook and the Growing Your Own Groceries ebook were not included in the collection.  Thankfully, I have received permission from the author of those books to send those to any of you that did purchase the ebook deal from Living on a Dime.  Just let me know if you were one of those people and I can send those to you.  (I can't send them to all of you--just those of you that did purchase the deal last week) I am sorry for the confusion!

Have a great week!
~Erica

Supermom News: Not Getting the Class?

Hi everybody!

Every once in awhile I get an email from someone that has subscribed to this free newsletter, and they are confused because this doesn't seem like a healthy eating class.   If you are one of those people that signed up for my healthy eating class but didn't get all the way enrolled (as in, you aren't getting any class lessons) then please email me right away so I can help you with that.  There may have been a technical glitch that caused you to not get properly enrolled in the class, and I would love to help you get that taken care of right away.

If you are getting this email, you are subscribed to my Supermom's Health and Wellness Newsletter, which is a whole different thing from my healthy eating class.   :)  Most class members also choose to get this newsletter, but sometimes it gets confusing for people as to which items are for the class, and which are general news and sales items.  If the subject line starts with Supermom Class, that's for the class.  If the subject line starts with Supermom News, that's the free newsletter.  Get it?  :)

That being said, I want to remind you all that you can still listen to tonite's interview that I did with Paula Brake.  Although we had a few technical bumps at the start of the show, it turned out to be extremely informative and inspirational.  Just click here to go listen.  (find the section "Past Episodes" and listen in!) Also, be sure to tune in next Thursday night when I interview a friend of mine that beat breast cancer through a combination of traditional and holistic methods.  She has a lot of great information to share with us about staying healthy.  (Thursday, March 26, 7:30pm)

Don't forget to visit the blog often.  I have been doing much better at sharing things there with you.  There is a nice goodie from Paula that relates to the interview we did tonite, a great Shopper's Guide to Pesticides, and some things I've been writing as I've been kicking the sugar habit (again!). Also, lots of wonderful feedback and ideas from current class members.  They are learning so much, and sharing a lot of ideas with you all as well!

Til next time,
Erica

Supermom News: Join Me Tonite!

Hi everybody!

Tonite we are going to have a wonderful call-in opportunity for you.  Paula Brake will be sharing how she went from being ill with multiple problems, to being extremely healthy--all by changing what she was eating!  Paula and her husband are now health teachers, and she has generously agreed to share her story and some tips with us on transitioning into a healthier diet.  Also, there will be a bonus freebie included.  :)

We are trying something new for this call!  You can choose to call in to participate, or you can listen online and ask your questions through the instant messaging chat feature.  Hopefully this will make it easier than ever for you to join in the fun.

To call in on Thursday, March 19, at 8pm Eastern time
Phone Number: (724) 444-7444
Call ID: 43558

To join us online just click here Once you're on that page, click the big purple Join In button to listen and participate.  You can also click this link to listen to the recent call that we had, interviewing my MOM :) about how she manages to keep going with lots of healthy eating changes, while also having an extremely busy schedule. (episode 1) Some of you had mentioned having trouble getting to listen to that, so now you have another opportunity.

To get the most out of your listening experience, it seems that it will work best if you create an account at the site, talkshoe.com.  That makes it easy to join in the live chat.

This is a new service for me, so we'll all be trying it out together.  I've participated in podcasts and calls through Talk Shoe both as a listening and as a speaker and it seems easy to use and works well, so hopefully this will be a good fit for our needs.

See you Tonite!
